Meet Sarah Gray

Working with Katie has invigorated me to make my writing the best it can be. She is as ambitious for my work as I am and her understanding of what I'm trying to achieve is the foundation of our relationship. On completing a Creative Writing diploma, I missed the structured feedback and support. Coaching provides the perfect remedy. Katie and I work in a variety of ways, sometimes we talk an idea through to develop the logic of the story and other times she will comment on a completed draft. This could be the first or fourth draft. Whenever I feel that I need to discuss any element of my story, at any stage, we work through it together.

Sharing new writing can be sensitive, especially when I'm still trying to decide on the details. Honesty and trust are essential in this situation. Katie's storytelling skill and integrity ensure an open exchange, without ego – we can happily disagree, which leaves me the thinking space to arrive at the most effective solution. Having Katie as a creative sounding board has helped my writing process become ambitious, enjoyable and more efficient.

Taking the leap from short to long form is my next goal and I'm sure it will have its unique challenges. Facing these difficulties alone could be daunting but knowing I'll have Katie's judgement and support means instead of a long-distance slog, I'm heading for a creative adventure.
